Hillyside is one of the pioneers of home stays in Kodagu, the name Hillyside has its origin from the British and has been around for over a hundred years. The cottages at Hillyside were originally built for a swamiji as it is a perfect setting for blessed people to become one with nature as they pursue higher spiritual goals.

There are two cottages at Hillyside, both cottages are lakefront facing west with a perfect view of the lake. Lots of trees and shade surround the cottages and a hammock is available for relaxation.
Hillyside is now an estate that belongs to the Thammana's. Thammana belongs to the Dodamane clan that has resided in Coorg for over 150 years. They are a very prominent and well known family that owns a lot of coffee plantations in the Somwarpet taluk area. Thammana is a landscape architect and Sandhya his wife is a school teacher at Bangalore .

Since their jobs require them to reside in Bangalore , the estate house went fairly unused through the year prompting them to convert it to a resort and share with others the beauty of Hillyside. Sandhya and Thammana have two children Anirudh and Anushree, both being excellent tennis players who have represented Karnataka at various national level tournaments; they both currently play the national circuit.
